Dry creek-bed hiking within the depth of the Canyon (B) - (36) - (14) can be an exhilarating experience. However, this creek-bed hiking is seasonal, yet it offers an adventure unique to those with the courage to take on a pleasant, strenuous Hyena. The shadows fell mysteriously into pesky creatures from the past and concealed cliff space, just waiting for the action in a somewhat overwhelming flow of impressions. Observing: hiking directly in the Canyon's dry brook bed is only possible if some months have elapsed since the last rainy season; even then, it's not guaranteed, so checking the day's weather forecast is required to avoid taking high ground protection during a sudden flash flood.
Since all streams around Entoto run up within a short distance to the highest part of the plateau, there is no risk of being surprised by far and accumulated sudden river flow from an unknown range. There is no known weakness in the deep rock pools that could constitute a magazine water mass just waiting to break through a weak point in the cliff bottom.
The actual waterfall and the abyss are still hidden but respectfully close here, only some metres behind the view of this bath photo. However, this lofty concealed rock vault is a real challenge, with a staggering sight and a mysteriously cosy secret rock chamber. However, be careful and expect the worst-case scenarios, because the animals are wild, and even the most reliable rock can break if there is bad luck.
